is it usual to have to pull the bed downwards with the side straps in order to fasten the straps or does that mean i have to get longer ones?

lol that seems fairly normal! If you got Jackies straps they are sure to be long enough and I always find it a 2 man  job getting the straps fixed.  Just make sure the top looks level to the base when finished 

i have asked jackie if i can send back the long straps in favour of longer side straps and hope that my pram will then be strapped up properly!My fethalite needs 31" side straps.:)

jackies straps werent long enough and i will skirt over what has happened regarding that.however i am now on the search for a pair of brown balancing straps that must be 31" and in safe condition if anyone can help me that would be great,thanks in advance:)
